SF1 National File processed

Postby blodgettj » Fri Dec 09, 2011 11:47 am

We have completed conversion of the national SF1 data as released by the Bureau last month. For now, we just have the complete-table data stored in the sf12010 data directory, with dataset names beginning with "us". Included are completed national collections of counties (uscounties), ZIP codes (ZCTAs), places, county subdivision, states (combined with nation totals, regions and divisions), etc. We actually created some national views previously which involved concatenating data from the 51 state files, but accessing those was almost prohibitively slow. Some of these datasets are still quite large and will require patience when accessing but it will be much better than before. Also, these data sets include Puerto Rico. We had to data for PR before. We have entries for all these in the Datasets.html directory page. Access the data at http://mcdc2.missouri.edu/cgi-bin/uexplore?/pub/data/sf12010 .

Coming soon will be corresponding extracts in the sf12010x directories.
