The sf12010 data and csv files

You should not attempt to extract very large summary file data sets, such as those being put in the sf12010 data directory, in csv format. There is a 32k record length limit on csv files written by dexter (and read by Excel). We recommend running multiple extracts with different tables selected for each. Carry along the LogRecNo ID variable to make it easy to join the different files together later if necessary.

The only output format that is acceptable for extracting all tables from such "wide" data sets is the SAS data set. If you are only interested in extracting a SAS data set then be sure to check the "None" radio button in the first row of Sec. I on the form so that dexter will not waste a great deal of time and storage space trying to create a csv file.
